FAQs
In principle, you as the lecturer decide which examination modalities are suitable for your course. However, please note the following guidelines:
For all course types except VO (lectures), the following applies: in addition to presentations and similar oral contributions, students should produce at least a few pages as a written assignment.
Attendance is compulsory for these courses, i.e. students should be present for at least 75 % of the teaching units.
Attendance is not compulsory for VOs (lectures). Written assignments are possible, but unusual. Lecture examinations usually take the form of an oral examination or a written examination. The Austrian grading scale is as follows: "very good" (1), "good" (2), "satisfactory" (3) or "sufficient" (4), negative success is to be assessed as "not sufficient" (5). Intermediate assessments are not permitted. If this form of assessment is impossible or inappropriate, the positive assessment must be "successfully participated" and the negative assessment "unsuccessfully participated". All detailed information can be found in UG - § 72.

IMPORTANT: Certificates must be issued immediately, but at the latest within four weeks of the performance to be assessed. (UG 2002, § 74. (4))

Moodle
UNI-IT operates the learning platform Moodle for lecturers and students of all faculties. Moodle provides online "course rooms" in which work materials and learning activities can be made available.
Important: only lecturers and all registered students have access to it (employees of the Coordination Center do not!)
You will receive the access data for Uni Graz online from us at the beginning of the semester, which will also give you access to Moodle.
All important information about Moodle (e.g. first steps, Moodle courses for lecturers, ...) can be found in the following link.
(For very specific questions you can contact Ms. Nora Wolf, Email: nora.wolf(at)uni-graz.at, Tel. Uni Graz +43 (0)316 380 - 2734 ).
With regard to the course dates, it should be noted that excessive blocking scheduling of a course is not desirable. In the event of a course having to be scheduled in a block, the course should be held in at least two blocks or spread over one week (5 teaching days).
Additional approval is required for courses on Saturdays.

Payment for teaching assignments varies between EUR 400 (lecture/exercise = VU) and EUR 550 gross per month depending on the type of course (salary is paid in 6 monthly installments).
Note: The net amount depends on various factors (other employment relationships at other UNIs; health insurance issues for lecturers from abroad, especially Germany; ...).

Unfortunately, travel and accommodation costs cannot be covered.

Virtual teaching is a form of teaching in which teachers and students are physically in different locations, and which takes place via the internet. Synchronous virtual teaching is teaching in which teachers and students take part in a course unit at the same time within a defined period of time. Asynchronous virtual teaching is teaching that takes place independently of time and place.
- Up to 60 % of the contact hours planned for a course can be held in the form of virtual teaching, unless otherwise provided for in the curriculum. The Director of Studies may approve the use of virtual teaching to a greater extent in individual cases. If the proportion of asynchronous virtual teaching exceeds 30 % of the contact hours, a high-quality course concept must be submitted to the Director of Studies for approval.
